Bear Hunting Seasons - 2008

  • Maine Black Bear Hunting:

    Vast Highlands, Moosehead & Katahdin Region -
    Opens Monday, August 25th (Arrive on the 24th) thru September 19th - 4 Weeks


    West Branch Region - Opens Monday, September 8th (Arrive on the 7th) thru September 19th

  • Ontario Black Bear Hunting:

    Opens Monday, August 18th (Arrive on the 17th) - 3 Weeks

Bear Hunting Seasons - 2009

  • Maine Black Bear Hunting:

    Vast Highlands, Moosehead & Katahdin Region -
    Opens Monday, August 31st (Arrive on the 30th) thru September 25th - 4 Weeks


    West Branch Region - Opens Monday, September 14th (Arrive on the 13th) thru September 25th

  • Ontario Black Bear Hunting:

    Opens Monday, August 17th (Arrive on the 16th) - 3 Weeks

Maine Grouse Hunting Season - 2008 Grouse & Woodcock

  • Guided Maine Grouse & Woodcock Hunting:

    Vast Highlands, Moosehead & Katahdin Region -
    Open October 1st  thru November 30th - 8 Weeks
    (Note: The woodcock season is set by the federal government just prior to each fall season - normally it runs from October 1 through November 1)

Maine Deer Hunting Season - 2008

Maine Moose Hunting Season - 2008

  • Guided Maine Moose Hunting:

    By permit drawing only (see below for zone selection).
    Area and Season depends on permit -
    Typically open in October - 1 or 2 Weeks


Maine Moose Hunting Zones

Foggy Mountain Guide Service utilizes five Wildlife Management Districts. When applying for a moose permit it is absolutely critical to use the following priority list. While Foggy Mountain uses only the first five districts, you must list 10 districts for your application to be valid. Please contact us if you have any questions.
