Black Bear Hunting is our life at Foggy Mountain Guide Service. It is not a seasonal sideline for us. It has been our livelihood for over thirty years. Each year we can’t wait until the seasons open.

Maine Bear Hunting Seasons – 2026

  • Maine Black Bear Hunts from Stands:
    • Vast Highlands, Moosehead & Katahdin Region –
      • Hunt Monday, August 31st (Arrive on August 30th) thru September 4th (Depart on Saturday, September 5th);
      • Hunt Monday, September 7th (Arrive on September 6th) thru September 11th (Depart on Saturday, September 12th).
    • West Branch Region –
      • Hunt Monday, September 14th (Arrive on the 13th) thru September 18th (Depart on Saturday, September 19th);
      • Hunt Monday, September 21st (Arrive on the 20th) thru September 25th (Depart on Saturday, September 26th).
  • Maine Bear Hunts with Hounds:
      • Hunt Monday, September 28th (Arrive on September 27th) thru October 2nd (Depart on Saturday, October 3rd);
      • Hunt Monday, October 5th (Arrive on the 4th) thru October 9th Depart on Saturday, October 10th);
      • Hunt Monday, October 12th (Arrive on the 11th) thru October 16th (Depart on Saturday, October 17th);
      • Hunt Monday, October 19th (Arrive on the 18th) thru October 23rd (Depart on Saturday, October 24th).

Maine Bobcat Hunting Season – 2025-2026

Maine Coyote Hunting Season – 2025-2026

  • Guided Maine Coyote Hunts:
    Daylight hunts: December 1, 2025 – April 30, 2026
    Night hunts: December 16, 2025 – April 30, 2026

Maine Snowshoe Hare (Rabbit) Hunting Season – 2025-2026

Maine Spring Turkey Hunting Season – 2026

  • Guided Maine Turkey Hunts:

    Season is generally the four weeks of May…for 2026:
    – Hunt May 4th to May 8th, or
    – Hunt May 11th to May 15th, or
    – Hunt May 18th to May 22nd, or
    – Hunt May 25th to May 29th, or
    – Hunt June 1st to June 5th

Maine Moose Hunting Season – 2026

  • Guided Maine Moose Hunts:

    By permit drawing only (see below for zone selection).
    Area and Season depends on permit – Typically open in October – 1 or 2 Weeks

Maine Moose Hunting Zones

Foggy Mountain Guide Service utilizes five Wildlife Management Districts. When applying for a moose permit it is absolutely critical to use the following priority list. While Foggy Mountain currently uses only the first two districts, you must list 10 districts for your application to be valid. Please contact us if you have any questions.
