Black Bear Hunting is our life at Foggy Mountain Guide Service. It is not a seasonal sideline for us. It has been our livelihood for over thirty years. Each year we can’t wait until the seasons open.

Maine Bear Hunting Seasons – 2025

  • Maine Black Bear Hunts from Stands:
    • Vast Highlands, Moosehead & Katahdin Region –
      • Hunt Monday, August 25th (Arrive on the 24th) thru August 29th (Depart on Saturday, August 30th);
      • Hunt Monday, September 1st (Arrive on August 31st) thru September 5th (Depart on Saturday, September 6th).
    • West Branch Region –
      • Hunt Monday, September 8th (Arrive on the 9th) thru September 12th (Depart on Saturday, September 13th);
      • Hunt Monday, September 15th (Arrive on the 14th) thru September 19th (Depart on Saturday, September 20th).
  • Maine Bear Hunts with Hounds:
      • Hunt Monday, September 22nd (Arrive on September 21st) thru September 26th (Depart on Saturday, September 27th);
      • Hunt Monday, October 6th (Arrive on the 5th) thru October 10th Depart on Saturday, October 11th);
      • Hunt Monday, October 13th (Arrive on the 12th) thru October 17th (Depart on Saturday, October 18th);
      • Hunt Monday, October 20th (Arrive on the 19th) thru October 24th (Depart on Saturday, October 21st).

Maine Coyote Hunting Season – 2024-2025

  • Guided Maine Coyote Hunts:
    Daylight hunts: December 1, 2024 – April 30, 2025
    Night hunts: December 16, 2024 – April 30, 2025

Maine Snowshoe Hare (Rabbit) Hunting Season – 2024-2025

Maine Spring Turkey Hunting Season – 2025

  • Guided Maine Turkey Hunts:

    Season is generally the four weeks of May…for 2025:
    – Hunt April 28th to May 2nd, or
    – Hunt May 5th to May 9th, or
    – Hunt May 12th to May 16th, or
    – Hunt May 19th to May 23rd, or
    – Hunt May 26th to May 30th

Maine Moose Hunting Season – 2025

  • Guided Maine Moose Hunts:

    By permit drawing only (see below for zone selection).
    Area and Season depends on permit – Typically open in October – 1 or 2 Weeks

Maine Moose Hunting Zones

Foggy Mountain Guide Service utilizes five Wildlife Management Districts. When applying for a moose permit it is absolutely critical to use the following priority list. While Foggy Mountain currently uses only the first two districts, you must list 10 districts for your application to be valid. Please contact us if you have any questions.
